How to physically install GPS tracking gadgets on vehicles and configure them to stream telemetry to your Zedd VMS server.

4-Wire Automotive Installation

Hardwired GPS tracking devices (e.g. Concox GT06N, Jimi VL02, Teltonika FMB920) connect directly to the vehicle electrical harness under the dashboard or steering column.

Red Wire (+12V / +24V Constant): Connect to uninterrupted battery power (BAT+). Tracker remains powered when ignition is off.

Black Wire (Ground / GND): Connect to bare vehicle chassis metal ground or ground bus.

Orange / White Wire (ACC / Ignition): Connect to ignition switch wire. Reads 12V only when ignition key is in ON position.

Yellow Wire (Relay Cut-off): Connects to pin 86 of 5-pin 12V relay for remote engine immobilizer / fuel shutoff.

Pre-Installation Checklist

Step 1: SIM Card Preparation

Insert a Nano/Micro SIM card (Safaricom, Airtel, etc.) with active data bundle (100MB/mo is plenty) and SMS credit. Ensure SIM PIN lock is disabled.

Step 2: Antenna Orientation

Mount the tracker horizontally beneath the plastic dashboard facing upward towards the sky. Never mount under metal shielding.

Step 3: LED Status Indicators
